Important Message About Our Thrift Store and Donation Center

February 22, 2021

Raleigh Rescue Mission is committed to equipping individuals experiencing homelessness with the tools and skills they need to rebuild their lives. Our New Life Plan guides these individuals (our clients) along a path that ultimately provides long-term stability for themselves and their family.

A key component of our plan focuses on empowering clients to complete their education, build skills and receive on-the-job training. Our Thrift Store and Donation Center provided a training opportunity for our clients, but we’ve learned that career and technical education at community colleges and work-based learning with area employers is crucial early in the process. This focus on a career path leads to gaining a livable wage.

With this new insight, we have decided not to renew our lease for the Thrift Store and Donation Center and will close permanently in May of 2021.

As we begin our transition, we will continue to collect donations and currently plan to keep the Store open until May 29th. We are working with other non-profits in the area to transition our inventory to support their meaningful work.

We thank all who have supported the Thrift Store and Donation Center over the years and pray you’ll continue to support Raleigh Rescue Mission’s work in the community. Visit raleighrescue.org for more information.
