Children’s Ministry–Want to get involved?

October 28, 2019

It’s always a surprise for some to find out that there are many children here at Raleigh Rescue Mission, ranging in age from birth to 18. Children are a primary focus as we provide a safe and caring environment for them while their parents do the hard work of progressing through the New Life Plan.

Here are just a few highlights:

We have a new partnership with NC Pre-K and Title 1 Preschool, part of Wake County public schools. Thanks to this program, our four-year-olds enjoy attending preschool at nearby Root Elementary.

Toddlers and preschoolers are learning all kinds of new things this month in the Children’s Development Center. Themes for October include Fire Safety, Weather/Seasons, Pumpkins/Leaves and Apples/Johnny Appleseed. The children recently had a blast riding the R Line, playing at Historic Oak View Park, and enjoying the newly renovated Moore Square. School age kids recently visited the library, Marbles Children’s Museum and participated in several Moore Square events.

Bedtime routine for our little ones includes reading! They choose from “book-bags” filled with a stuffed animal and 1-2 books that they can trade out a couple of times per week. The children are encouraged to read with their parents for 10 minutes every night before they go to sleep.
