Carla Tuttle

After retiring from a 28-year career in education that included classroom teaching, curriculum writing, and instructional leadership, Carla felt God calling her to a second career in nonprofit ministry. Her western North Carolina roots, firsthand awareness of generational poverty, and years of studying systemic barriers faced by vulnerable populations deepened her commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and crisis.

At Raleigh Rescue Mission, Carla combines her background in education, training, leadership, and relationship-building to support clients, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Trained in trauma-informed care and de-escalation, she is passionate about creating respectful, supportive environments that strengthen programs and open doors to lasting change.

Carla is grateful to serve with a team dedicated to offering hope, stability, and practical support as individuals move toward independence.

Outside of work, Carla enjoys reading, staying active, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends.
