Millbrook High School Seniors Volunteer over 3,000 Hours at the Raleigh Rescue Mission Donation Center and Store

June 6, 2017

Over the past year, a group of Millbrook High School seniors have volunteered over 150 days (3,000 hours) at the Raleigh Rescue Mission Store and Donation Center.  These students came to us through a program designed to help seniors with learning, social or other disabilities. The volunteer/work hours performed for the Raleigh Rescue Mission earn student’s course credits to supplement for traditional credits they might not be able to achieve in a classroom setting. Through this program, we are able to provide students with job skills, which they will take with them after graduation.

Ronstadt Manuel, The Raleigh Rescue Mission Donation Center and Store’s Manager, states; “Student’s sort, hang and tag around 100,000 articles of clothing throughout the year. Millbrook’s students are a great asset; we are extremely grateful for everything they do to help the Mission!”

The Donation Center is now accepting new and gently used furniture, household items and clothing. To donate items, please drive around to the back of the store and drop items off at the Donation Center loading dock. For your convenience, the Store also offers thirteen drop off locations throughout Wake County. Details of items currently being accepted and where to find drop off sites, can be found on the store website:  www.raleighmissionstore.com.

All proceeds from sales at the Donation Center and Store will benefit life saving programs at Raleigh Rescue Mission in Downtown Raleigh, serving the homeless community in Wake County, NC.
