On September 8th, eight women and five men donned caps and gowns and celebrated their graduation from Jobs for Life with friends, family, and special guests. Clients and their guests enjoyed music performed by one of the graduates, a guest speaker, beautiful decorations and a delicious dinner of chicken, ribs & all the fixin’s.
If you’re not familiar with Jobs for Life, it’s a biblically-based curriculum created right here in Raleigh in 1996 and is now taught all over the world. Classes help prepare men and women to experience the dignity of work through mentoring, resume prep and interviewing skills training, and an ongoing community of support. It’s a big part of our New Life Plan; clients are putting into practice what they’ve learned and finding stable employment. Learn more about JFL here.
Commencement speaker Mike Slawter, former RRM client and now Executive Director of Rescue Mission of Cape Fear in Wilmington, encouraged the graduates and all present, recalling his time at the Mission and what he learned. Mike’s advice to the graduates: “Do not give up – keep trying. Faith means F ully A nticipating I t T o H appen.”
The next Jobs for Life classes begin in October. If you’re interested in serving as one of JFL’s Life Coaches, please register here. For more information, contact Geia at ibyhagrre@enyrvtuerfphr.bet.
