Fred Smith, Jr.
Fred J. Smith, Jr. grew up in Raleigh at the Methodist Orphanage where his mother and father were the teacher and house mother. He attended Broughton High School, graduated from Wake Forest University where he also obtained his law degree. After completing his education, Fred served as a Captain in the US Army until 1970.
Following his service to our country, Fred practiced law for a number of years before starting Fred Smith Company in 1989 where he continues to serve as President. He also serves as Chairman of the Board for North State Bank, a member of the board of Raleigh Rescue Mission and is the owner of FSC Ranch, which raises Sim Angus cattle.
Fred and his wife Ginny reside in Clayton and enjoy spending time with their five children and eleven grandchildren.
