Raleigh Rescue Mission Distributed Over 1,000 Backpacks to Children Experiencing Poverty in our Community
Saturday, August 20th Raleigh Rescue Mission staff and volunteers distributed 877 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children in need at the Raleigh Rescue Mission Store and Donation Center. In addition, 180 backpacks were distributed to homeless resident children and aftercare clients’ children at Raleigh Rescue Mission (314 E Hargett St., Downtown Raleigh). Through the generous donations from our community, we were able to distribute a total of 1,057 backpacks in the last week. THANK YOU to all of the local church groups, companies and individuals who donated backpacks, school supplies and their time to make this wonderful event possible. Because of you, more than 1,000 children will go back to school confident and ready to learn this year! What a blessing!
Lynn Daniell, Raleigh Rescue Mission’s Executive Director, stated; “I always say we live in a uniquely giving community here in Raleigh. Once again it was demonstrated in our Back to School backpack give away. Over the last few weeks we saw about a 1000 backpacks and supplies come in to our donation center and then on Saturday go out the door to kids ready for school.”
A big thank you to ABC 11 for coming out to cover this joyous event.
