Children’s Development Center

On any given day in Wake County, more than 200 children are homeless. The younger children are, the more susceptible they are to major emotional problems and developmental delays.

The W.E. Mangum Children’s Development Center is an on-site, licensed, five-star preschool for children ages 2 1/2 to 5. The center provides a safe, Christian environment for children living at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, as well as for children from low-income families in our community.

Services provided in the W.E. Mangum Children’s Development Center include:

  • A teacher to child ratio of 1 to 7.
  • Superior preschool and childcare services with top-quality staff.
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily activities.
  • Fun and educational field trips.
  • Developmental assessments and referrals as needed.
  • Parental training, education and resource materials.

For Raleigh Rescue Mission Clients:

Our Children’s Development Center helps meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our clients by educating parents on disciplining, teaching and building relationships with their children.

As a part of Raleigh Rescue Mission’s Recovery and Rehabilitation Services, the Children’s Development Center helps restore and rehabilitate families by modeling parenting skills, providing education services and materials, and offering monthly teacher/parent conferences.

For the Community:

The Children’s Development Center is licensed through the N.C. Division of Child Development. Our high-quality, low-cost preschool services are offered to children from partnering community agencies and low-income families in downtown Raleigh and the Greater Raleigh Area.

To inquire about enrolling your child in our center, please call the director of W. E. Mangum Children’s Development Center, Kayla Prince at 919.828.9014, Ext. 116.
