Residents and adults from the local community can acquire marketable skills, prepare for GED testing, and more in our Adult Learning Center. With generous support from Wake Technical Community College, the center offers:
GED/Brainbuilders: Students study math, reading, social studies, science and writing. They may work toward obtaining their GED or high school diploma, increasing their general knowledge or strengthening an academic weakness. This course is hosted by Wake Technical Community College GED program. Course offered on Monday,
9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Computer Basics: This introduction to computer begins with how to turn on a computer! Students learn Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Course offered in four week sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Mavis Beacon Typing: This course provides one-on-one keyboarding instruction and assessment while helping students improve their keyboard speed and accuracy. Course offered in four week sessions on Monday, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
GCFLearnFree.org Computer Lab: Students utilize www.GCFLearnFree.org to learn Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Access as well as basic math and computer skills. Course offered in four week sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
